Dr. James O’Donovan, MD, MSc.
Sport & Exercise Medicine Fellow

Dr. James O’Donovan joins AMSMC from Ireland.   Dr. O’Donovan has been working in elite sport across a multitude of sports for a number of years.  He has worked with all the under-age teams in the Football Association of Ireland, including the U19 and women’s senior team.  In addition he has worked with the Irish team at the Rugby U20 World Cup in 2015.  James is a keen sportsman and played representative rugby for Lansdowne and post-medical degree qualifications had a training contract with the Leinster senior squad (which was curtailed due to injury).  Dr. O’Donovan is involved in a number of committees in Ireland; he is the secretary of the Football Association Ireland Medical Committee (2013-17), Chairperson of the Gaelic Players Association Player Safety & Welfare Committee (2016-17) and a member of the GAA Medical Science and Welfare Committee (2016-17).
